CATCHING UP

“Catching Up”

April 1, 2020

We live in interesting times!  The social distancing required by the spread of  COVID-19 has brought many changes in our lives.  Since I live alone, the changes are minimal.  Yesterday, five of my friends brought our lunches to a lovely golf course adjoining one friend’s home.  We set up our chairs six feet apart and had a lively discussion while enjoying the beautiful sunlit day.  Blue sky and white fluffy clouds, cool weather and a good time had by all.

I can imagine we are entering a new era—one in which we live very differently.  We have the connection needed to communicate; we can hold meetings from home; and many are finding they can work from home.  Maybe we are leaving behind all the old habits from the industrial age where a whistle blows at 8:00 and 5:00, setting the daily parameters. Even school may find different pathways, better ways for us humans.

Learning continues to be my passion.  Reading books, watching interesting programs, journaling, meditating, and playing music are enjoyable.  I enjoy sewing and preparing my meals.  As I said at a meeting recently, “I have a new job.  I am a caretaker for a 91 year old woman.   That woman is me.  I try to keep her well fed, healthy, and entertained.  So far, she seems to appreciate my efforts”.

I am available for friendly mentoring calls.    My work continues even though I no longer have a formal office or routine.   To make appointments, please e-mail me at marj@marjbarlow.com.

Also, I post available appointment times on  pocketgrandmother.com Payments can be made at pocket grandmother.com

Oh Margie, it is so wonderful to hear from you and your special brand of well earned wisdom. I really miss our Clams meetings and seeing all my dear friends faces once a month. Glad to hear about your backyard lunch time at Cheryn’s beautiful outdoor space. It still snow time here in Evergreen and in Colorado we have a state mandate to stay at home. I went grocery shopping yesterday and wore an old purple bandana to cover my nose and all 10 people in the store had on similar ones. It looked like an old fashioned bank robbery taking place. I got a well needed laugh during all this tragedy. Ralph and I are fine…and planning on putting our house up for sale and moving to Naples Florida..warm weather, beach, lower taxes and most homes have a pool. More info later. Love you and happy to hear you are well, happy and safe. Wouldn’t have expected any less from you. Judith
